Dr. Raso recently completed the training course on the X-Stop procedure and is now certified to perform this procedure. X Stop is a titanium metal implant designed to fit between the spinous processes of the vertebrae. It is inserted through a small incision in the skin of your back. The X Stop is not positioned close to nerves or the spinal cord and there is no removal of bone or soft tissue for placement. It is designed to remain safely and permanently in place without attaching to the bone or ligaments in your back but can be easily removed at any time if necessary. The X Stop provides pain relief by keeping the space between the spinous processes open, so that when you stand upright the nerves in your back will not be pinched.

Dr. Raso has been certified to perform the Kyphoplasty procedure. Kyphoplasty is a newer treatment for patients immobilized by the painful vertebral body compression fractures associated with osteoporosis. It is a minimally invasive procedure that can alleviate up to 90 percent of the pain caused by compression fractures. In addition to relieving pain, Kyphoplasty can also stabilize the fracture, restore height and reduce deformity.
